Built for real eBay sellers

Every feature reflects how eBay actually charges — not a simplified guess.

🏷️

Accurate 6.5% Transaction Fee

Etsy's transaction fee applies to both the item price AND the shipping you charge the buyer. Our calculator applies it correctly to both — many basic tools miss this.

📢

Offsite Ads fee support

Etsy's Offsite Ads charge 15% (or 12% for high-volume sellers) when a buyer comes through an external ad. Toggle it on and see the true margin impact before it surprises you.

🌍

Multi-country payment processing

Etsy payment processing rates vary by country. Choose USA, UK, EU, Canada, or Australia and get the correct rate applied — critical for international sellers.

🔄

Three calculation modes

Start from a sale price, work backwards from desired profit, or set a target margin and find your minimum listing price. Covers every real Etsy pricing decision.

📊

ROI & break-even analysis

See your return on cost and the minimum price needed to break even — essential when pricing handmade goods where your material cost varies per item.

How eBay fees & profit are calculated

Understanding exactly how eBay charges you helps you price confidently — not just react to poor margins.

eBay Net Profit Formula

FVF = (Sale Price + Shipping) × Category %
Fixed Order Fee = $0.30 per sale
Net Profit = Sale Price − FVF − $0.30 − Shipping − COGS
Quick example: You sell an item for $49.99, shipping $5.50, COGS $14.00, Most Categories (13.25%).

FVF = ($49.99 + $5.50) × 13.25% = $7.35
Fixed Fee = $0.30 · Shipping = $5.50 · COGS = $14.00
Net Profit = $49.99 − $7.35 − $0.30 − $5.50 − $14.00 = $22.84 (45.7%)

Things eBay sellers usually ask

If it's not here, the calculator usually answers it on its own.

Does eBay charge the Final Value Fee on shipping too?+
Yes — since eBay moved to managed payments, the Final Value Fee is applied to the total transaction amount including shipping. So if your item sells for $49.99 with $5.50 shipping, the FVF is calculated on $55.49. Our calculator applies this correctly.
What is the $0.30 fixed order fee?+
eBay charges a $0.30 per-order fee in addition to the percentage-based Final Value Fee. It applies to every sale regardless of item price. On low-value items ($1–$5), this fixed fee significantly impacts your margin — which is why this calculator always includes it.
Should I use Promoted Listings on eBay?+
Promoted Listings can boost visibility, but they add an extra fee (typically 2–8% of sale price). Use this calculator to enter your ad rate and see if your margin can absorb it before switching on promotions. Most sellers find promotions only help if margins are above 30%.
What margin should I target on eBay?+
Most experienced eBay sellers aim for at least 25–35% net margin after all fees. eBay takes 13%+ in fees alone, so you need strong sourcing and pricing discipline. Anything under 15% net becomes risky once you factor in returns, packaging, and occasional promotions.
What is the difference between Fixed Price and Auction on eBay?+
Fixed Price listings sell at your set price immediately. Auctions start at a low bid and the final price depends on buyer interest — great for rare or in-demand items but unpredictable for margin planning. The advanced calculator supports both scenarios with break-even analysis for smart starting bids.
Are insertion fees still charged on eBay?+
Most sellers get 250 free fixed-price listings per month. Beyond that, insertion fees apply (typically $0.35 per listing). The advanced calculator lets you add an insertion fee if you are listing at scale or running auctions where insertion fees may apply.
